Star Wars & New USPS Rates
The U.S. Postal Service has amazing timing, or good diversionary tactics. While wielding a rate increase that’s as scary as a light saber, the USPS recently issued a set of Star Wars commemorative, 41-cent stamps. Although you have no choice on the rising rates, you can vote for your favorite Star Wars stamp. The winner will go on sale as a solo stamp late this summer. In the meantime, the new rates will go into effect at 12:01 a.m., May 14, 2007. Periodicals have a two-month reprieve: their rate increase won't go into effect until 12:01 a.m., July 15, 2007. How to Improve the Accuracy of Your Mailing List
To prepare your mailing list for the best deliverability, ensure that your lists are more accurate and narrow your target market, follow these four steps:
- Improve address accuracy: to improve deliverability, perform data hygiene on your lists to increase response:
- Correct city names
- Eliminate non-existent addresses in your list
- Remove duplicates
- Allow your customers to opt out of your list. After all, if they really don't want to receive direct mail from you, honor their wishes, and improve your response.
- Improve selections on your current list to eliminate potential waste
- Test a different list to improve response rates
- Use mapping to better target your audience
