tidbitSALES TIPS
A Call to Courage in Challenging Times

In 30 years, I’ve surfed many economic cycles in sales, and I’ve noticed a trend in this challenging economy: it’s the tough-minded people who weather tough economic times.

Sales is about riding the waves of the economy, knowing which ones can take you to the highest heights and which ones to leave alone. With three decades of sales experience, I look for the people who are prepared to act, to make decisions and move forward. Email me your thoughts or questions. I’d love to start a conversation with you.

Lyn Bunch, Director of Sales

tidbitDLT RAVING FANS
   When Cutting Corners Hurts

This story comes from a reseller that wanted to shave dollars off their list costs for a client, and kept trying to reach a Direct List Technology rival.

Reseller (dialing phone)

Rival’s Sales Rep (RSR): How can I help?
Reseller: I need counts ASAP.
RSR: Sure, sure, sure. What do you need? I’ll get those to you right away.

Fast forward 24 hours. An eternity, really. The reseller still hadn’t received the counts from the rival. That’s when Direct List Technology won their business for good.

Moral of the story: Many take Direct List’s quick turnaround and service as the norm in the industry. They are not.

Have a story to share? - We'll be happy to feature it in the next issue. Share your story!

How to Save More with a Resident List

If you want to prepare a resident list for the best mailing results and save on postage - and, let's face it, who doesn't - you have these options:
  • Use the sequence number on each resident record to keep your list in the proper walk saturation order for your postal savings. If “something happens” during mail processing, put the list back into the correct walk saturation order.
  • You can order the resident list in ascending or descending order, depending on how you are processing the mail. This will insure you keep the list in the correct walk saturation order.
  • Use the resident list in the sequence you receive it, along with the matching CASS report. Do not sort the list again using any postal sorting software package. Clients have processed the resident file thinking it would somehow improve the sequencing. Unfortunately, this does not improve the list; just bumps the list out of walk sequence. A quality check built into the list gives each address a unique sequence number, in case it gets out of walk sequence order.
